Jason David was an American actor and mixed martial artist. He was known for his role as Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and other shows as an actor. Jason also acted in the films and short films ‘The Junior Defenders’, ‘Fall Guy: The John Stewart Story’, ‘The Blue Sun’ and ‘Crammed 2: Hoaching. Jason an American actor, holds a 7th Degree Black Belt and 25 years of experience in martial arts. Jason David is also the CEO and President of Rising Sun Karate Academy (R.S.K.A).

Jason David was born on September 4, 1973, in Covina, California, USA to parents Janice Frank and Ray Frank. Jason’s mother Janice was of half-Polish and half-Greek descent. Jason had an elder brother, Eric Frank, who died in 2001. Jason David developed an interest in martial arts at a tender age. Frank started training at the Red Dragon Karate School at 4 yrs old.

  • In 1993, the series Jason David first appeared in Tommy Oliver’s “Morphin Power Rangers”. Then, Frank appeared in ‘Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.
  • He did ‘Power Rangers Zeo’ in 1996. Jason starred in the series ‘Sweet Valley High’ and ‘Family Matters’ in the same year. And the actor got featured in ‘Power Rangers Turbo’. Jason also played the role of Carl in the series ‘Undressed’.
  • In 2022, Jason David appeared in an episode of ‘Power Rangers Wild Force. Frank played Tommy Keen in the flick ‘The Junior Defenders in 2007. Jason did an episode of ‘Power Rangers Super Megaforce’ after 7yrs later.
  • In 2017, he did the web series “Ninjak vs. the Valiant Universe” and “Transformers: Titans Return. Frank appeared in a cameo role in the movie ‘Power Rangers in the same year.

  • He knows several different techniques of martial arts that include Taekwondo, Shotokan, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Judo, Jeet Kune Do, Wado-Ryu, Wing Chun, Savate, and Muay Thai. Then, Jason developed his unique technique of American Karate namely ‘Toso Kune Do.
  • Jason signed with the sports marketing and management company, SuckerPunch Entertainment in 2009. Jason fought his second fight against Chris Rose on February 19, 2010. Frank fought against James Willis in Cage Amateur Association “Cage Rage 7” and defeated his opponent in the first round via KO on May 8, 2010.
  • The American martial artist made his professional debut and fought with Jose Roberto Vasquez in Houston on August 4, 2010. Frank defeated Vasquez and won his pro-MMA debut in the first round at the time of 0:46 via Rear Naked Choke Submission.
  • On May 22, 2010, he made his debut with the Ultimate Warrior Challenge at their event Jason fought against Carlos Horn in a heavyweight bout. Jason David Frank won the first round via armbar submission and defeated his opponent.

Jason David Frank married Shawna on 8 May 1994. They had three kids: Jacob, Hunter, and Skye. In April 2001, Jason and Shawna separated.
The actor cum martial artist got married to Tammie, who herself was a martial artist in 2003. They had a daughter named Jenna Frank.

Frank holds a seventh-degree black belt. He also has a Guinness World Record for skiving. In 1994 the American Karate Kung Fu Federation bestowed the ‘Hall of Fame Award’. In 2000, he won the ‘Centurion Club Award’ the following year after winning a ‘Program Direct Award’.
On June 28, 2003, he named was ‘Master of the Year for American Karate and he was inducted into the World Karate Union Hall of Fame the same year.

Cause of Death

GREEN Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank, who reportedly passed away at 49, recently celebrated one of his four children graduating high school. An official cause of death has not been disclosed, but multiple reports have indicated Frank died by suicide on November 21, 2022.
